Rapper Method Man Cast In 'Shaft' Reboot
Wu-Tang Clan rapper Method Man is heading to the big screen in the new installment of "Shaft."
Rapper Method Man has joined the cast of the "Shaft" reboot.
Richard Roundtree, who portrayed the character in the original 1971 Gordon Parks film, and Samuel L. Jackson, who played his nephew in a 2000 remake from John Singleton, are reprising their roles in the new film and the Wu-Tang Clan star, real name Clifford Smith, will play an old friend of Jackson's character.
Jessie T. Usher will portray detective John Shaft's son, while Regina Hall and Alexandra Shipp will also appear in the film.
"Black-ish" creator Kenya Barris has written the script, which features Usher's character reuniting with his father on a law enforcement case.
John Davis was previously recruited to direct the remake before filmmaker Tim Story took over the project last year.
It is slated for release in June 2019.
